The board of trustee consists of prominent members of the community. The Board issues the overall policy directives and guidelines along which the university is steered, appoints the president of the university and reviews annual report and budget of the university.
Following the collapse of the Somali state and the civil strife which followed, most educational facilities were destroyed, damaged or simply abandoned as a result of insecurity. Education ceased to function at all levels causing school-going children and youth throughout Somalia to see their future suddenly blocked by circumstances beyond their control.
In 1952 Amoud Valley just outside Borama made educational history by hosting the first secondary school in the former Somaliland Protectorate. On November 4th, 1998, the same Amoud Valley saw the inauguration of the first university in the Republic of Somaliland thus marking the birth higher education in this country and the rebirth of this sector in the wider Somali context after its total collapse.
The goal school of dentistry is to produce competent Doctors who can deal with the prevailing health problems of the country, competent to practice preventive, promotive, curative and rehabilitative oral health in respect to the commonly encountered dental health problems and possess the attitude for continued self learning and to seek further expertise or to pursue research in any chosen area of dentistry.
Amoud University faculty of Computing and ICT has come a long way. The faculty is located at the main campus, five kilometers from Borama city center and was established in October, the year 2009. We have never looked back since then.
The Faculty of Education is one of the six Faculties that are currently functional in the university. It has been established in 1998 with the aim of producing qualified teachers and educationists who contribute to the postwar recovery of Somaliland educational system.
Amoud University’s Faculty of Business and Public Administration, the first of its kind established in the country in 1998, offers a four-year undergraduate business studies program that leads to bachelor degree of business administration [BBA].
