On Thursday October 19th, 2017, at 11.00am, Prof. Ahmed A. Boqore, Vice President for Academic Affairs, Amoud University, hosted the Somaliland Minister for Public Works and Housing, Honourable Ali Hassan Mohamed to a brief event celebrating his contribution to Amoud, in specific his role in ensuring the clear and thorough demacation of the boundaries of Amoud University land while serving his tenure at Ministry of Public Works and Housing through use of GPS technology, thereby helping safeguard the whole acreage of land owned by main Campus Amoud University, Borama.

Prof. Ahmed A. Boqore, Vice President for Academic Affairs Amoud University and Prof. Saeed H. Habaneh the Dean, Amoud University School of Postgraduate Studies and Research (AUSPGSR), this morning launched the first session of the 2016/2017 Masters Thesis Defense which is taking place at Amoud University Hargeisa Campus Premises for five days beginning Friday July 14th, 2017. Amoud University Hargeisa Campus is proud to produce the first cohort of postgraduate students this year with a total of 63 students who have so far successfully completed and submitted their documents for defense being projected to meet the requirements for graduation in their various fields of specialization.

These theses are drawn from 6 programmes, namely, Master of Public Health, Master of Pure Mathematics, Master of Project Planning and Management, Master of Rural Development and Pastoral Economics, Master of Science in Software Engineering & Security and Master of Educational Policy & Planning. The Masters defense is scheduled to take place every day commencing on Friday, July 14th, 2017 and ending on Tuesday, July 18th, 2017. Other officials in attendance at the defense from AUSPGSR include Mukhtar A. Omer, Associate Dean, AUSPGSR and Mr. Nuur Ahmed Muse.

The Chief Registrar has announced that Mid Term Examinations for all undergraduate Students at Amoud University in various programmes are scheduled for commencement on Saturday, May 13th, 2017 and will continue for one week until Saturday May 20th, 2017.

Following a senate meeting held at the Office of the Vice President Academic Affairs, the university moved the examinations forward from the previously scheduled time according to the academic calendar by two weeks in order to cater for students who are scheduled to participate in the forthcoming National Electoral Commission (NEC) work to be held.

All students are reminded that it is important for them to ensure the following:-

  1. That they are fully and properly registered for known and specific courses according to the laid down procedures
  2. That they pay their school fees in time and bring with them Student Identification Cards at the beginning of each and every examination.
  3. That they observe all Amoud University examination rules and regulations

This notice has been given by the Deputy Registrar Mr. Suleiman H. Ali, on behalf of the of Mr. Abdillahi A. Aare, the Chief Academic Registrar, Amoud University in consultation with Prof. Ahmed Abdillahi Boqore, the Vice President for Academic Affairs in a letter dated April 10th, 2017 of reference number AU/RGS/118/2017.

Prof. Suleiman A. Gulaid, President, Amoud University today met the Representatives of the Somaliland National Electoral Commission (NEC) officials who paid him a courtesy call at his offices located at the Main Campus, Amoud University, in Borama Town.

The Somaliland NEC is scheduled to hold training of its enumerator clerks, voter officials and various other positions as an electoral body within the Main Campus Amoud University premises for a few weeks beginning soon in the month of April 2017, in preparation for the forthcoming general elections due to be held in the near future.

Prof. Suleiman resumed duty at the start of April 2017, having been away for about two months in Turkey on a short but well-deserved leave of absence.

Amoud University re-opened its doors on March 1st, 2017 for the second semester March 2017/ July 2017 for this current Academic Year Sep 2016/ July 2017. According to the Academic Calendar, the semester is already in its 5th week.
