These include all campuses in Borama offering undergraduate courses, together with the school of postgrdauate studies and research Borama Campus and Hargeisa Campus. The university management, under the leadership of Prof. Suleiman A. Gulaid announced the closure today Thursday, March 18th, 2020 following a crisis meeting which was held yesterday in response to the global covid-19 virus outbreak.
The university, has taken the decision to close the university initially for the next four (4) weeks starting tomorrow or for as long as as will be considered most appropriate to reopen with safety and health of its students and staff taking top priority due to the corona virus outbreak. The decision to close the university was arrived at by the university first and foremost because of the need to protect it's students and staff from any risks associated with the deadly virus and further based on a directive by the Somaliland Government Ministry of Health requiring all learning institutions in Somaliland to comply with the safety measures following the outbreak of the virus so as to reduce the risks thereof associated with students and staff health during these trying moments.

Faculties of the university have been advised to try and pursue the use of online education tools, e-learning platforms and any other internet technology available to them during the precautionary four week break period so as to extend any study materials to students while maintaining close consultations with all stakeholders on the updates of health status of the country as the world grapples with the implications of infections globally.
Amoud University further wishes to advise all its staff and students to practice safety and readiness guidelines recommended by World Health Organization (WHO) and the Somaliland government through the Ministry of Health.
We take this time to wish all students and staff divine protection, a healthy and safe stay, until such a time that the university re-opens officially!
