Among issues that were discussed were Quality Assurance and Maintenance of Standards progress report on performance for first week of the semester, Re-exams/ Special Exams, Sophomore Classes/ Population, University almanac, Course Offerings, Course outlines and Postgraduate Diploma in Education for Untrained Teachers to be offered at Amoud University. The meeting was informed that there were 1200 freshman students registered so far, from opening date September 15th, 2021 until Monday, October 4th, 2021. Registration was still ongoing for freshman department hence more updates on additional numbers would be issued in the next meeting. The Dean, Freshman Department pronounced the start dates and end dates for freshman semester II re-exams and special exams as Saturday, October 9th, 2021 to Wednesday, October 13th, 2021. A timetable was distributed for the planned re-exams/ special exams for the freshman semester II courses was also released. It was agreed that students needed to be reminded to carry their student identification (ID) cards which would be a pertinent requirement and no student would be allowed to take the exams without showing a valid ID card. The sophomore students would be allowed to use their ID cards for freshman department for this exercise.
The chairman informed the senate members that beginning this semester September 2021/ January 2022, Amoud University would start a Postgraduate Diploma programme in Education (PGDE) programme targeting untrained lecturers at Amoud University. All lecturers who do not have any background on education would therefore be required to attend the course so as to strengthen their delivery skills and bolster their capacity as lecturers. The programme would last 1 year (2 semesters) and would commence on November 1st, 2021.
