Brief History
Freshman department of Amoud University is the oldest department of all Amoud University departments and faculties. Opened in 1998, the freshman department is the gate way to Amoud University, since every student, before joining their favorite disciplines, must spend one year of two semesters at the department. This is a preparatory stage for all newly admitted students at Amoud University. The department of freshman is dedicated to providing a comprehensive core of support that will influence academic achievement and retention of students in the university. In achieving its mission and adhering to the University’s mission, the department of freshman assists newly admitted students with transitioning from high school to university by providing basic guidance and orientation required in a university environment. Courses taught at the department include English, mathematics, basic science (biology, physics and chemistry), Arabic and Islamic studies.
