Brief History
Faculty of Economics and Political Science (FEPS) was first established as a department of economics in the faculty of Business and Public Administration on November 4th, 1998. The FEPS was later inaugurated as an independent faculty on October 23rd, 2012. The faculty is responsible for developing the economic and political strength for the future generation in the horn of Africa. The faculty offers programmes leading to award of Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Bachelors of Arts in Islamic Banking and Finance. The faculty also provides short term training in research and software applications (Excell, SPSS, Stata, Eviews and Gretl), data collection, data analysis, monitoring and evaluations, impact analysis and capacity building.

Mission
Our mission is to develop the academic, economic and political strength of Somali community in the horn of Africa through provision of alternative and efficient academic programs, research and community outreach activities in economic and political science using contemporary approaches, theories and methodologies.

Vision
Our vision is to become the center of excellence and a leading faculty in economic matters in the horn of Africa through the provision of quality education and research in economic and political science

Objectives
The main objective of FEPS is to produce qualified Human resources in the fields of economics, Islamic economics and political science, who are endowed with concrete knowledge of economic and political theories that apply to development issues, natural resources, and other socio-economic matters relating to the developing countries in particular and the world in general. The specific objective of FEPS is:
- To acquaint the students with better and up-to-date concrete understanding of the major economic and political theories through contextualized quality education and, training and development.
- To enable students broadly understand and practice Islamic economics, Islamic banking and finance, in the dynamics of the modern world economy and politics.
- To prepare students to carryout basic, applied and action research relevant to the overall economic and political strategic development of the nation, and of the region.
- To equip the students with the necessary methodologies to undertake economic and political analysis and design relevant national policies, for economic and political growth and development; now and for the future.
