on Thursday, January 2nd, 2020 for the September 2019/ January 2020 academic semester at main campus, Amoud University. The meeting was chaired by Edwin O. Okech, the Dean, Faculty of Computing and Informatics, accompanied by Ahmed Abdillahi Sh. Ibrahim, Associate Dean, Faculty of Computing and Informatics in charge of Academics Affairs and Khalid Abdirahman Hussein, Associate Dean, Faculty of Computing and Informatics, in charge of Administration.
In attendance were twenty three members of faculty staff including Mohamed M. Omar Gelde, Abdifatah Moahmed Dahir, Warsame Abokor Sh. Abdi, Liban Ahmed Ali, Abib Abdi Farah, Farah Osman Dahir, Ilhan Muse Nur, Liban Hassan Ahmed, Mustafe Saeed Elmi, Suleikha Isak Omar, Abdirahman Hassan Jeh, Amare Mengesha Tsegaye, Mahamed Muhumed Alel, Mohamed Olhaye Waberi, Muhyodin Farah Abdillahi, Omar Dimbiil Gadid, Samakab Bashe Ahmed, Abdiqani Mohamed Adan, Idil Mohamed Omar, Zakaria Mouse Omar and Tawakal Abdi Ali. Several other faculty staff were absent with apology including Nour Ahmed Mouse, Mukhtar Muhumed Alabari, Mukhtar Amed Omar, and Dr. Sarah D. Kyolaba. Several issues were discussed among them a Report on performance of lecturers; review of the current semester and follow up on the level or status of policies with regard to lecturers implementation of the same, including the use of English language as a medium of communication for teaching and learning; Preparation for Final Semester Exams including scheduled Exam Dates for Final semester exams, Exam paper setting, Submission of set exam papers, Planning for Invigilation, Exam paper Moderation Exercise, Marking and Submission of Exam Results and Training on examination process from setting, administration to use of examination results.
Faculty of Computing and Informatics is one of the 14 schools and faculties currently operational at Amoud University and one of the six faculties located at main campus, Amoud University, Borama. It was established on September 15th, 2009 with 33 pioneer students initially registered for its first programme which was an undergraduate Bachelor of Information Technology degree. These are namely Bachelor of Information Technology (BIT), Bachelor of Business Information Technology (BBI), Bachelor of Software Engineering (BSE), Bachelor of Telecommunications Engineering and Computer Networking (BTN) and Diploma in Information Technology(DIT). Currently this academic unit runs five programmes including four undergraduate degree programmes and one undergraduate diploma programme. The first cohort of graduates in the Bachelor of Information Technology programme were churned out in August 2012. In the academic year 2012/2013, another programme, the BBI programme was the second programme to be established with its first cohort graduating in the year 2015, and in 2012 the DIT programme was established. Later on in 2014, BSE was established and finally in 2019 BTN was established.
Student population at the faculty enrollment as at the 2019/2020 academic year stands at 381 currently while the faculty has a total of 34 faculty teaching staff in different specializations.

The meeting with student leaders was to serve as a feedback session and performance review for the academic semester September 2019/ January 2020 including course coverage, and any challenges faced during the semester in session. Among other issues discussed included forthcoming final project thesis defense and written examinations schedules for practical courses and theory based courses respectively. Other major matters raised included academic tours and field internship programmes for senior (fourth year) students and laboratory facilities for the newly established Bachelor of Telecommunication Engineering and Computer Networking.
