The meeting was hosted by Abdisamad Egeh Habaneh, the Dean, Office of Students Affairs (OSA), accompanied by Abdinasir Dahir Egeh, Assistant Dean, Office of Students Affairs, alongside his counterpart Harun Ismail Warsame, Dean, Department of Freshman Studies. The Chief guest was Prof. Suleiman Ahmed Guleid who welcomed new freshman students once again to Amoud University and gave an overview of the university.

Mr. Harun Ismail Warsame, dean, department of Freshman studies reported that Total number of freshman classes registered in academic year 2020/2021 were 19 classes from (A- S), with Total number of students coming to 1567 out of whom 980 were male while the other 587 were female. Those students, he stated, were from 23 different places and countries all over the world including Somaliland, Somalia, Kenya, Djibouti, Saudi Arabia, USA, and England. The department of freshman studies employs over 30 lecturers; 27 of them were masters degree holders and the remaining 3 lecturers bachelors degree holders with different specializations.

In attendance, were Prof. Mohamed Mohamoud Jama "Derie", Vice President, Public Relations, Community Outreach and Overall in charge of extra curricular activities who gave some brief information about student conduct code. Also present was Dr. Mohamed Muse Jibril, Vice President, Academic Affairs, who highlighted that the sum of new enrolled students was 1929, including the 1567 from freshman department. He also assure students of the role of his office in supervision of all faculties and schools to ensure quality course contents, monitoring compliance with examination format and course outlines and performing routine supervision of lecturers regularly through the quality assurance office.

Suleiman Hassan Ali, Chief Registrar; enlightened the students on the Grading system of Amoud University being A=90-100; B=80-89; C=65-79; D=50-64; F=49. He further defined formula for calculation of Grade Pont Average and highlighted to the students the requirement for graduation. Additionally he explained the meanings and distinctions among Re-exam, Re-course and Special exams. Sh. Mohamed Bile – the Director of Arab relations gave a spiritual guidance to the students and emphasized the need for decent dress code, and explained what was acceptable and fit dress code for the society.

The freshman orientation event is an elaborate ceremony held annually in order to induct students to the Policies of Amoud University and to give them guidance on various issues. Such matters which are addressed include Students Life at Amoud University, Students' Union, Students Code of Conduct, Examination and Academic Rules and Regulations, Sports and Extra curricular activities. Students get to know how and where to address their issues, what is expected of them, their Rights and Privileges and Roles and Responsibilities.
