Senate meeting for Tuesday, April 13th, 2021 was held at Amoud University main campus where among issues discussed were Tuition Fee Payment Report, Ramadan Schedule Adoption, Catalogue Progress Report, Re-Exams/ Special Exams for faculties and Freshman Department and Review of Action Plan.
The meeting was chaired by Dr. Mohamed Muse Jibril – Vice President, AA, AU – Chairman and attended by Suleiman Hassan Ali, - Chief Registrar, AU, Dr. Oso Willis Yuko – Senior Advisor to VPAA & Secretary to Management, AU, Edwin O. The chair called the meeting to order at 9:10am. Du’a was delivered by Abdirizak Mahamud Osman. Trend for tuition fee payment seemed to be good good for most faculties despite the hard economic times faced by members of students fraternity. All faculties reported to have informed both lecturers and students of the new Ramadan schedule in which classes were moved to earlier start times and ending times and periods shortened. The first morning shift is scheduled to start from 7:00am and end a 9:00am, while the mid morning shift is scheduled to start at 9:10am and end at 11:10am. The third late morning shift would start at 11:20am and end at 2:00pm with a 30 minute break for prayers from which 12:30pm until 1:00pm. The review of action plan discussions were postponed to the coming week Tuesday, April 20th, 2021. Most faculties also reported to be on course for review of the curricular of their various programmes and all deans were in close consultations with the director, academic affairs to ensure timely completion of the review in good time for delivery of university catalogue by the end of academic year 2020/2021.
The head of examinations department, also gave a summary report of current status of examinations in which he mentioned that Freshman Re-Exams had just entered Day three (3) as of the day of the meeting, and further that on Day one (1), 183 students sat for the first course, on Day two (2) 26 students sat for the examinations. Each faculty had been assigned one (1) day for invigilation from the five days while at the same time urged to send faculty representatives to verify students undertaking such examinations. The chair requested for Submission of re-exams/ special exams deadlines to be carefully observed; submission date was set for Saturday, May 1st, 2021.
There being no any other business, the meeting was adjourned at 10:00am until 9:00am on Tuesday, April 20th, 2021.
