The meeting was chaired by Suleiman Hassan Ali, - Chief Registrar, AU, Acting Chairman, in the absence of Dr. Mohamed Muse Jibril – Vice President, AA, AU, who was away on health grounds. In attendance were Mohamed Abdi Osman - Dean, Faculty of Agriculture & Environment, AU, Hassan Rabiye – Associate Dean, Faculty of Education, AU, Edwin O. Okech, - Dean, Faculty of Computing & ICT, AU – Secretary, Eng. Abdikarim Idiris Nour, - Dean, Faculty of Engineering, AU, Bashar Elmi Yey, - Dean, Faculty of Business & Public Administration, AU, Abdirizak Mahamud Osman, - Dean, Faculty of Economics & Political Science, AU, Tawakal Abdi Ali – Head of Examinations Department, AU, Harun Ismail Warsame, - Dean, Freshman Department, AU.
The chair called the meeting to order at 9:10am. Du’a was delivered by Abdirizak Mahamud Osman. A report was read out on status of student tuition fee payment for all faculties in which it was observed that there was generally low levels of payment of fees. Deans of Faculties were therefore tasked with responsibility of following up the matters and ensuring all students had settled their tuition fee payment obligations as soon as possible. The action plan could not be discussed due to unavailability of a copy on email circulation and was postponed for discussion at a later date. It was agreed that all deans would submit copies of catalogues to the director, academic affairs, so that the issue can be wound up as soon as practically possible.
It was proposed that Ramadan Schedule for classes held at main campus be reviewed to 7:00am – 9:00am (first shift), 9:10am – 11:20am (second shift) and 11:30am – 2:00pm (third shift). This suggestion was unanimously adopted by members and approved for implementation from the April 13th, 2021. Examinations Officer urged members to ensure compliance with and strict adherence to submission of re-exams/ special exams deadlines results. Saturday, May 1st, 2021 was proposed to be final date of submission of such results. Members were urged to keep time in the forthcoming meetings to help manage meetings better in future. Examinations officer further reminded all deans to ensure invigilators are well trained on need to ensure candidates write down all relevant details pertaining to their identity on examination papers including but not limited to Correct ID Number and Name.
There being no any other business, the meeting was adjourned at 10:00am until 9:00am on Tuesday, April 13th, 2021.
