BORAMA, SOMALILAND — Amoud University has officially expanded its Community Service Programme to five rural villages in the Borama District: Tulli, Shirwac, Gorayo-Cawl, Holholka, and Koojaar, reaffirming its commitment to community engagement, social responsibility, and sustainable development.

The official launch ceremony was presided over by the President of Amoud University, Prof. Dr. Mohamed Muse Jibril, marking a significant step in the University’s continued efforts to extend its academic expertise, institutional resources, and essential services beyond the university campus to surrounding rural communities.

Delivering Essential Services in Health, Education, and Agriculture

The expanded programme is structured around three key areas of intervention: healthcare delivery, educational support, and agricultural development, with the aim of addressing priority community needs and improving rural livelihoods.

In healthcare, the initiative seeks to extend essential health services and promote community health awareness. Through its educational component, the University supports local schools by providing teaching services and contributing to the strengthening of educational capacity. In agriculture, the programme offers technical guidance and practical support to local communities to enhance agricultural knowledge, improve farming practices, and strengthen productivity.

Through these integrated interventions, Amoud University aims to improve access to essential services, strengthen local capacities, and contribute to the long-term well-being and resilience of rural communities.

Strengthening University–Community Partnerships

The expansion reflects Amoud University’s broader institutional commitment to social responsibility, inclusive development, and the practical application of academic knowledge in addressing pressing societal challenges.

It also reinforces the University’s role as an active partner in local development, recognising that higher education institutions have a responsibility not only to generate and disseminate knowledge but also to translate it into practical solutions that create meaningful benefits for society.
