Mission

The College of Health Sciences at Amoud University, specifically the School of Nursing, Midwifery, and Anesthetic Nursing, is committed to providing quality nursing education to prepare students for professional practice. The mission includes addressing the shortage of skilled nurses and midwives in the Country, improving the standard of hospital care, and contributing to the development of nursing education, administration, and research.

Vision

The vision of the College of Health Sciences at Amoud University is to be a leading institution in nursing, midwifery, and anesthesia education in the Country. The vision includes producing graduates who are well-equipped to meet the healthcare challenges facing the region, both in hospitals and community settings.

Objectives

  1. To deliver quality nursing education that emphasizes communication skills, critical thinking, professionalism, and lifelong learning.
  2. To prepare graduates for professional nursing practice in hospitals and community settings.
  3. To contribute to the development of nursing education, administration, and research in the region.
  4. To address the shortage of skilled nurses and midwives in the country.
  5. To improve the standard of hospital care in the region.

History & Background

Amoud Nursing School was established in the academic year 2006-2007. Its academic program is designed for four years and is to meet the educational requirements of the nursing students who are enrolled in the Baccalaureate nursing program at Amoud University. It is the first nursing school in Somaliland/Somalia which offers a degree programme in nursing.

The purpose of the Baccalaureate Nursing Program at Amoud University is to provide quality nursing education which prepares graduate students for professional nursing practice as generalists. It Prepares graduates who will be able to contribute to the development of nursing education, nursing administration, nursing research and address the challenges facing the healthcare system of Somaliland /Somalia.

Bachelor Of Science In Nursing (BSN)

The School of Nursing, Midwifery and Anesthetic Nursing was established in 2005 by Faduma Haji Abubakar. She was driven to address the shortage of skilled nurses and midwives in Borama, Somalia. The school offers a four-year Baccalaureate Nursing Program at Amoud University and aims to prepare graduates to be effective nurses in hospitals and communities, and to contribute to nursing education, administration, and research.

Bachelor Of Nursing Anesthesia
