Amoud University Honors Distinguished Leaders with Professorship Titles at 24rd Graduation Ceremony

Borama, Somaliland – 08/09/2025— Amoud University, the pioneer of higher education in post-conflict Somaliland, proudly announced the conferment of professorship titles to five distinguished leaders and scholars during its 23rd Annual Graduation Ceremony. The historic event recognized their decades of service, groundbreaking contributions, and transformative impact on education, healthcare, governance, and institutional development in Somaliland.

The ceremony highlighted the profound legacy of individuals who have shaped the foundation and growth of Amoud University and influenced the broader higher education landscape in the country.

Honorees

  • Professor Emeritus Suleiman Ahmed Guleid – Educational Leadership and Governance
    Widely regarded as the architect of modern higher education in Somaliland, Prof. Guleid co-founded Amoud University and served as its first and longest-serving President. Under his visionary leadership, the institution grew from a modest beginning into a model university inspiring over 30 universities across Somaliland.
  • Professor Emeritus Ahmed Abdillahi Boqore – Educational Management (Finance and Administration)
    A cornerstone of Amoud’s financial stability, Prof. Boqore managed the university’s administration and finances for over two decades with unmatched foresight, ensuring sustainability during resource-scarce years and exemplifying integrity in service.
  • Professor Said Ahmed Walhad – Medical Education
    A pioneer in Somaliland’s healthcare education, Dr. Walhad was instrumental in establishing Amoud University’s medical and health sciences programs. His leadership shaped a generation of healthcare professionals, with more than 90% of the country’s medical personnel trained under his guidance.
  • Professor Hamud I. Barkhadleh – Curriculum and Instruction
    Serving Amoud University for nearly two decades, Prof. Barkhadleh played a leading role in academic strategy, curriculum design, and quality assurance, as well as advancing national education policies and professional teacher training in Somaliland.
  • Professor Mohamed M. Jama – Educational Management (Student Affairs)
    With more than 20 years of service, Prof. Jama has been at the forefront of student engagement, academic advising, and extracurricular development, making Amoud a student-centered institution while also contributing to national curriculum reforms.

University Leadership Recognition

The ceremony also honored Dr. Mohamed Muse Jibril, President of Amoud University, for his outstanding leadership in steering the university toward international recognition. Dr. Jibril’s scholarship and visionary reforms have significantly advanced the institution’s research, governance, and global partnerships, solidifying its role as a leader in higher education across Somaliland and the Horn of Africa.
