Amoud University Delegation Champions Sustainable Development on Day 2 of the AAUN Conference 2026

GQEBERHA, SOUTH AFRICA — The robust engagement of Amoud University’s leadership continued today on the second day of the Australia Africa Universities Network (AAUN) Conference 2026, hosted at the prestigious Nelson Mandela University.

Prof. Dr. Mohamed Muse Jibril, President of Amoud University, alongside Mohamed Heban Awale, Director of International Relations and Partnerships, represented the institution in a series of high-level dialogues and networking sessions with global academic leaders, policymakers, and industry partners.

Day 2 of the conference centered on the pressing global theme: “Circular Economies for Inclusive and Sustainable Futures.” The Amoud University delegation actively participated in comprehensive discussions exploring how higher education institutions can pioneer innovative, sustainable economic models. The sessions focused on moving away from traditional “take-make-dispose” systems toward frameworks that emphasize resource regeneration, climate resilience, and equitable economic growth for local communities.

For Amoud University, this platform serves as a vital catalyst for expanding its global footprint. The conference continues to act as a bridge strengthening international collaboration, research, and innovation between the African continent and Australia. Through collaborative panels and bilateral meetings, Prof. Dr. Jibril and Mr. Awale are successfully positioning Amoud University as a key player in cross-continental sustainable development partnerships.

These strategic engagements are expected to create a wealth of new opportunities for the university’s students and faculty. By fostering institutional cooperation and knowledge sharing, the delegation is laying the groundwork for future academic exchange programs, joint research grants, and curriculum enrichment initiatives.

As the AAUN Conference progresses, Amoud University remains steadfast in its strategic vision. By proactively advancing global partnerships, the university continues to drive its mission of delivering world-class, quality education, producing impactful research, and spearheading sustainable development initiatives that uplift both the Horn of Africa and the broader global community.
