ABOUT ELIP In today’s interconnected and globalized world, proficiency in English is not merely a valuable skill but an essential tool for academic achievement, professional success, and effective international communication. English has become the dominant language in education and professional sectors across the Horn of Africa, including Somaliland. At Amoud University, where English serves as the primary medium of instruction, students often face challenges due to limited exposure, as they live in a largely monolingual society where Somali is the sole formal language. To address this gap, Amoud University established the English Language Improvement Program (ELIP), designed to enhance students’ capabilities in listening, speaking, reading, and writing, thereby preparing them for academic excellence, professional advancement, and global engagement.
