In a significant step toward regional academic integration, Amoud University and Ethiopia’s Salale University have officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at strengthening institutional collaboration and academic ties between the two institutions.

The landmark agreement was formalized by Prof. Dr. Mohamed Muse Jibril, President of Amoud University, and Dr. Feyera Dinsa, President of Salale University.

The MoU signing was the centerpiece of an official working visit by a senior delegation from Amoud University. The delegation included key university officials, notably Mr. Mohamed Heban Awale, Director of International Partnerships and Projects at Amoud University.

This strategic partnership provides a framework for mutual growth and focuses on several core areas, including:

  • Joint Research Initiatives: Facilitating collaborative studies to address regional challenges.
  • Exchange Programs: Promoting academic staff and student mobility between the two universities.
  • Capacity Building: Enhancing the skills and expertise of faculty and administrative staff.
  • Academic Development: Co-developing new academic programs and strengthening educational departments.

As part of the working visit, the Amoud University delegation toured various campuses and facilities at Salale University. Highlights of the tour included visits to the university’s advanced dairy breeding farms and its teaching hospital, which features highly specialized medical units.

During these site visits, leadership from both institutions engaged in fruitful discussions regarding future opportunities. The dialogue heavily focused on establishing practical training programs, fostering collaborative research, and sharing experiences—particularly in the fields of agriculture, veterinary sciences, livestock development, and health sciences.

This new MoU reflects the shared commitment of both Amoud University and Salale University to advance higher education, drive research excellence, and foster robust international academic cooperation across the Horn of Africa.
